Wearever Fountain Pen Restoration

Before shot: I spent some time this weekend working on an old Wearever. It was old, grungy, broken and needed some love. Who am I to keep this pen down? Some people will say that this pen is not worth the time or the energy to get back in the game...but I disagree. It's a solid writer and it only cost me a few bucks to get rolling again. I posted a better broken shot here on Thursday.

All it took was a new sac, some polish and a tiny bit of nib work to make this a happy pen (and me a happy owner.) All the scratches polished out (thanks to my new polishing kit.) Click for better views.

Now it is shiny!

Ignore the feathering, its the cheap paper but the nib is very smooth. Who knows...I might have put another 30 years of use into this pen over the weekend and that is a pretty good feeling. Don't worry I will be back tomorrow with the latest new pen that will last me 2 weeks! Cheers.

Sanford Uni-Ball Grip - Older School

It feels like it is "old school week" here at Good Pens...back in the day, I bought these by the 12 pack...a lot. There was a time where I always had this pen with me. Jordan had crazy ups, Nate Dogg and Warren G were Regulating and I had my Grip...it's just the way it was.

Times change, tastes change but I still use these- mainly because I have about 10,000 of them. I love the modern versions of this pen as well. Seen here, but this pen still stays classic and works for me. I do a ton of scribbling and doodling with these and am not afraid to bring them on the road with me if needed.

The before shot, I have been doing a TON of work restoring old fountain pens lately. I did some work on a pen for Unposted here and really have been enjoying working on my pens and getting some pens in the mail to work from you guys. Here's the scary before shots. I will get to this one over the weekend and will get some afters out as well.

Have a great day everyone.

Uni-ball Jet Stream RT 1.0

I hooked up with Uni-ball and Sharpie and they were gracious enough to send a few pens out for reviews and I have to say this pen definitely surprised me with how well it writes from the start.. The grip runs the whole way through the body and the pen feels a little thicker than usual which is very welcome to me.

Nice fat Bold 1.0 point. I probably would not have grabbed this off of the shelf if I had not had the chance to write with it first. I tended to stay away from the 1.0, but this pen changed my mind a on that. It works pretty well on my 3x5 cards and writes smoothly on a small cheap sketchbook I use.

I am staying with the flying theme today (Jet Stream, get it?) Click for a better view. It's very true.

In other news, last night was a marathon fountain pen restoring session. Wow, that makes me sound very boring. I wish I could match some of the older ink colors I find cemented inside of these 50+ year old pens for my own. Last night was an older Parker with an insane aqua-blue that I need to go find a match for.

Moonman AKA The Camry

OK,  Camry MIGHT be a little bit of a stretch comparison.   Low cost and will run forever.  The Moonman M2 is a super fun Chines...
