Pilot Fountain Pen (re-mix)

So in the early days of this blog (snort) I did a review of this exact pen. It was new to the collection and I knew I liked it, but I wasn't sure how much and how much reaction I would get from it. You can read about it here but the emails and comments I got made me want to post it again.   It's a cartridge filled Pilot that I have not seen in stores again.
.
I said it was a "desk" pen because of not having a clip, but it travels with me and it's rare that I clip a pen on my shirt anyway. Sorry for you shirt clippers, I don't like to showcase the goods.) Oh, and yes there is some nib creep (ink on the nib) there. I don't try to fight it. I embrace nib creep as a normal part of my life. The nib says and it is very fine. I did pull it apart and clean it up once because the flow was a slow, but that did the trick and it now it writes like a dream again.

Again, I bought this in NYC for $8.95 and I probably use this pen every day. Right now it's topped of with Private Reserve Midnight Blues. I know I probably should have a black ink in here, but I am back in a blue stage lately. I will try to track more of these down, I hate liking this pen so much and only having one of them. Have a good weekend.

My Lady Mechanical Pencil

First of all, yesterday was an amazing blog day. The love was flowing and it was an incredible day...thanks again and that's what keeps me going... but now I have to go back to it and if that means breaking out one of the big dogs...count me in.

At first blush, this looks like a perfectly normal old school mechanical pencil. If that were the case, we could all high-five, bump chests and get on with our day- but no.... someone had to go and put a naked girl inside the pencil.

With a little tap, a shield pops down and reveals the (sorta) naked truth. There's not a logo on this one, I am not sure who would admit to actually manufacturing this but it works and it's interesting. It reminds me of a great line from So I married an Axe Murderer (awesome movie) is when Charlie Blurts out "I was just naked then...very nude."

It's a fun little addition to the collection and one I usually keep in the back of the drawer... that is unless my crazy uncle Ted comes over and makes me show it to him... again.

Guest Pen Cup #3 (and you will hate me.)

(Deep Breath) OK, So my mother-in-law is a frequent reader to my blog and noticed that I posted a few guest pen cups in the past (going out to a friend or family member and shooting their pens.) Fun idea and it changes things up a bit. I knew she had a cup at her house that at some point I wanted to get to and here it is.

When we all gathered together for Christmas this year, I was a little confused when I opened up a perfectly wrapped box and this cup was sitting in the bottom staring at me. My first reaction was "great, she brought the cup so I can shoot it" then my wife slapped me in the head and let me know it was actually a gift...for me...to keep. (Another.Deep.Breath.)

I haven't done anything other than stare at it for the past month. It's been sitting on my desk like an out of place shiny gem in a pile of old rocks.

I lied...I inked the Meisterstück. I had some burgundy ink that was a perfect match, and there was a Waterman roller ball that is not in the photos that I use as well.

I won't go into the details on each pen. I will use that for my daily posts as I put these into rotation. I don't know if the decision to give this gift was a difficult one or not but I am still trying to figure out how to thank her properly for this. Sometimes putting something in a box and handing it to someone else to keep is much more than a gift. Good Pens.

uni-ball Vision Elite Bold 0.8 Blue/Black (come fly with me.)

uni-ball got it right on this one. I hooked up with these guys on Twitter and they fired these off for me to take a look at. All I needed to see was "Blue/Black on the packaging and I was sold. I am a huge fan of my blue/black fountain pen ink, so to get that combo in a roller ball is awesome and very welcomed from the norm.

Their bold is listed as a .08 and that feels about right compared to my .7's. Not too bold, just right. I just cant got over how great the color of this ink is. I mentioned that already right? A larger view gives you a better look.

I never noticed this before on their packages, but they claim they "won't leak in flight." which is a huge bonus considering the traveling I have been doing. Now you know why in the first picture the pen is resting on two planes. I am trying to be a little clever here as well. This is a good pen, I am throwing on in the travel bag as well.

The waiter at the restaurant I went to tonight had 3 black G-2's perfectly lined up in his apron, but gave me a crappy ballpoint to sign my check. (Smart man.)

Cheap new pen case (by cheap, I mean free!!)

I smoke about 2 cigars a year, usually because a friend has a baby, or because I have had too much scotch and feel the need to ruin the current pleasant smell of whatever I am wearing.

Somewhere along the line I saw an online ad for a free cigar case, I filled out all the forms, probably got a ton of spam and sure enough 8-10 weeks later I received my new cigar case. Which I opened and realized that my pens fit in the case exactly as I pictured it. (The cardboard tubes were shipped in the case.)

So sweet! I just ran downstairs because I thought there might be a big honking logo on the other side, but there isn't one! That's a good thing. It's good to be back home, I will catch up with shipments and emails early this week. Thanks.

Moonman AKA The Camry

OK,  Camry MIGHT be a little bit of a stretch comparison.   Low cost and will run forever.  The Moonman M2 is a super fun Chines...
