The Good Senator Fountain Pen

This is pen 2 from my Christmas Guess Pen Cup Gift. I poresent "The Senator" (I usually try to say that in a thick Boston Accent)that I believe made under the company name Merz and Krell. Lately, it's been one of my top 5 writers. I love the color and The gold nib adds a bit of fanciness needed in my day.

As always, click for bigger pictures, but the nib says Fine and that's the way it writes. It's a Piston filler, which makes me happy.

Last night I saw one of the local news anchors waving around a chewed up Bic Stick with the clip bent and hanging out in the wind. She could have used a Good Senator to dress things up a little bit. Just my opinion, but if your job involves being on TV, you might want to reconsider a banged up 34 cent pen as your pointing device.

Here it is looking at you. I was unable to find a lot out about this pen company, I know they are German and it looks like they are still making pens, (which is surprising) but it looks like they mostly do advertising pens, which would be sad, because this is such a strong pen. Have a great day.

Pilot MultiBall (yes, please) and details on Fridays fountain

This is another pen that makes me want to find something to write. I picked up this one up in NYC and it really surprised me. A quick sample writing at the store and I bought 3 to take home.

The next day I went on the hunt and bought a handful more for my very own. These pens are that good for me. It writes just a shade under a .5 and flows and flows and flows.

My biggest pen problem right now is that I have too many pens that love to write with. I may need to go into some sort of forced pen semi retirement and a new rotation plan. These Pilots have found a way into my heart and I need to make the time to use them.

Normally, I am very stingy with the details of my pen sourcing. Although between Twitter, Facebook, Email and Comments, I have to get the details out on my new Pilot fountain pen. So--- this is what the package looks like. I bought it at Kinokuniya Bookstores, Midtown West right by Bryant park. If you are lucky enough to go there... go downstairs to the pen section and have fun. I believe this one was $9.25ish. Good Luck and let me know if you pick one up. I am in the process of finding another source for these, so I will let you know what I come up with.

Pilot Fountain Pen (Tee Hee)

If you would have seen me today, you would have seen a big goofy grin on my face. It's because of this pen.
I wrote about the black version of this pen here in the past and I was able to pick up a clear version in New York City this week and it is perfect.
It's like someone handed me a big bowl full of kittens and sunshine. (No kittens were harmed in that joke.)

Even Hell's Kitchen cannot get me flustered right now. I'm like..."whatever Chef---I have a new pen." this beasty has an EF point that is nearly perfect for me.

Here's the new family. Just happiness. Happy. Happy. Happy.

Pentel Sunburst Gel

I really hope that is just sticker residue on the cap. (Kidding, I am sure it is.) I like this pen, I don't really use it or have a need for it- but when I was shooting it and writing with it, I was pleasantly surprised at how well it puts ink down on the paper.

I am not sure if I will buy more or even have a chance to use it, but I almost feel like I should use it now. JetPens sells the metallic ink
versions of this pen and they look like they would be fun for projects.

Sunburst...A season in the Sun. It's all related. I might hold on to this one a little more before I put it back in the drawer. It has a little life left in it and I like being surprised. Now I am off to dig into my pen haul from yesterday!

Blog Down... Blog Down!

Thanks to Office Supply Geek for letting me know Blogspot had some issues this morning. My scheduled post did not update and there were some blank spots but now it looks like I have everything back. I did not want to miss a day of pens so I am posting my catch from a little NYC shopping trip today.

After lunch with a friend, I headed across the street (conveniently) to Kinokuniya Bookstore for a quick walk through. There is one major score here I will post another day but I am very excited about it. 5 minutes in and out and this is what I grabbed. I will get some details out on these very soon. Good Pens

Alvin Draftmatic 0.3 Mechanical Pencil

I have said it before, man cannot live on pens alone. In my world, there is nothing wrong with a good pencil. Good inks make you appreciate good pens and good pencils make you appreciate....I have no idea where I was going with that one- so if you make something intersting up feel free to let me know.

Some people love the fat pencils, give them a .9 and they are happy. Me? I am on the other end of the spectrum. I can write with a .5 but I prefer the .3 lead. Don't even think of trying to click more than once with this thing with cheap paper. You are talking Swiss cheese. .3's take a little sophistication.

I know technically this is a drafting pencil but I appreciate the weight and feel of this pen as a writer. The body is plastic but there is enough heft in the front to keep you happy. I don't think I ever touched the eraser, I usually keep one or two on my desk for that. You can buy these at most art stores for around 8-10 bucks and they are worth it.

Parker 51 "Special"

I own two of these exact models and I wrote about one in the past so this might actually be a re-post. (Or this could be a new post...depending.)
I have been getting frequent requests for my top 5 pen list and this pen will definitely be around the top of the list.

There are those that say that the Parker 51 might be the best writing pen ever made. That's a bold claim, one not taken lightly...and I sort of could be a lifetime member of the "Parker 51 might be the best writing pen ever made" committee. Make me the President!

Ok, to be blunt...this pen rocks. I can't find bad ink or bad paper for this pen. (That's actually a Moleskin up there without bleeding and being a mess.)

The jewel is just icing on the big inky cake of fountain pens. I do not let this pen too far out of my sight. Lately it's been filled with Private Reserve Midnight Blues and it's the pen I head for when I need to write and not have to worry about the little things that can go wrong with most pens. It's a Good Pen.
