Sheaffer Cartridge Fountain Pen

So yesterday I inked up an old Sheaffer cartridge pen on a whim and literally did not put it down since then. Usually my choice in pen wanders more than a clown in a 4 ring circus, but I have been sticking to my guns on this one. I wrote about a similar pen back in December, but it needs repeating.

Part of my joy is in the 304 (which I believe Sheaffer considered a fine, (and the 305 was the medium version) nib. It's smooth as silk and with a little twist...

A normal fine 304 nib writes a little finer upside down. You have to be a little gentle, but it works. The ink is Levenger Ravens Black, the paper is just your everyday note pad and the pen is one I not ashamed to use it.

I know tomorrow I will probably wander off a bit, but this simple little pen has been a star lately. These little pens are right up there on my list of solid writers.
Good Pen.

Oh, and without doing a ton of math, I believe today is my 6 month anniversary of a pen a day. Wow. Time flies..

Sheaffer Cadet Tip-Dip

I have been slowly and methodically collecting and falling in love with this line of pens. Some of you may call them the poor man's Craftsman, but to me, they are just incredible pens. The have a touchdown filler with a sweet hole on the underside of the nib to draw the ink in.

I have a few F1's (fine's) but this one is a Medium that make me happy. There's a 1 beside the M in this one. I believe the dates are somewhere around the 1950's and I think they sold for around $3.00 at the time. Don't hate the player...but I actually bought this for less than that the other week.

Sleek! They made a version of this called the 23 that was gold and rumor has is a little flexy. Still on the lookout for one of those.

I am not afraid to use this as a daily writer and I do on occasion. Inks up easy, writes smooth and looks good sitting on an avocado. Gotta go, Iron Chef is on.

Thanks for all the great feedback over the weekend. I appreciate the comments and emails, keep them coming.

Sheaffer Fineline Ballpoint Monster

Last night I was rooting through the pen drawers (that sounds dirty) for something to shoot and Office Supply Geek, Pen Addict and Unposted (I know these people have names) were on Twitter discussing putting Dremel to refill to get a better overall pen. This post is for you.

I love this pen, and the irony is that I have never actually used it to write with, not because it's a rare un-inked fountain that will be passed through the Good Pen family from father to son and so on. It's because the damned thing does not write. I am sure someone wrote with it at one point and I appreciate that they took care not to bite it or toss it carelessly around before it landed in my hands.

No Natural Light and Nachos here, this pen has style, tuxedos and Maserati style. Sexay.

Unfortunately, it has this big clunky dinosaur of a refill in it that is older than I am.

All this Dremel talk reminded me I want to one day get one of my G-2 refills in this beast. Now you people that are smarter than I am will tell me I can go out and buy a brass adapter for $10.00 plus shipping that will allow me to use Sheaffer modern refills and I might do that one day. But for now, I seriously want to have a Dremel party and really bring this pen back to life.

Sheaffer "Vac" fountain pen and homeward bound

For those of you paying attention, you know I shot this like on Sunday of last week or something, but do not skip over this post. This is one of my favorite pens. I shot ahead of time to be able to keep up with my travel schedule.

I have a feeling that this pen would make his Holiness swear a little bit. Like "Damn, that's a sweet pen." I restored one of these for someone a few years ago and later I was able to buy one, I jumped on it without any questions. How do you not love black and gold? I need to polish this out a little bit, but absolutely happy with how it looks now and a perfect nib.

Yes, this is the filling system, it's fun, by the way, and not always filled. It's not a special occasion pen but more of a "I want to use" sort of pen. Always black ink in this one and usually bulletproof ink to seal the deal. It is definitely a Good Pen.
Monday will be back to Boston and normal (not drunk) blogging.  Cheers.
Have a great weekend.

Another Sheaffer Fountain Pen Cartridge filler (Meet Speedy)

If I shared the nicknames for all my fountain pens I would scare you. However, I would like you to meet "Speedy #3." There are 2 reasons for the name: #1. It was over-nighted from an eBay auction and #2 It's a cartridge filler. It as impossible to photograph, but there is an imprint on the pen that says: $2.35. Yeee-haw. that makes me so happy. In stark contrast, I paid more than that for my coffee this morning.

This pen would write for days and be happy about it. I am pretty sure you could copy the phone book, re-write a thesaurus and turn around and this pen would say" what else you got?" "yeah, I am talking to you."

It's more the blue color than anything else that makes this pen. It just makes this pen perfect. It's not special or overly expensive. It just is, to me, the classic fountain pen, sleek lines, good nib and easy to refill. Spot on...Good pen.

You will hate me, but I might not be overly creative because I am in sunny Puerto Rico this week hoping to not miss a post. Please excuse any delays on emails though. cheers!

Sheaffer's Cartridge Fountain Pen (Old School)

As always, click for better views.

Of all the emails and comments I have gotten so far, It seems like there has been a ton of people with a positive history of this type of Sheaffer pen. Some people call them School pens, but there's an argument that the name only applies to a small group of these pens made in the 90's. Regardless, I am still going with a school theme today.

I have a handful in all shapes and colors and usually keep too many of them inked at one time. Nice steel nibs that keep going regardless of the ink or paper. They travel well, and most of them put down a nice thin to medium line. Good Pens and you will see more on here soon.

I usually buy these when I see them for sale. Very low cost, low maintenance and sometimes it's just better to leave the 1961 Ferrari in the garage and take Cameron's car out. Oh and I don't have a Ferrari so don't break into my garage. (I also don't own a garage.)

Moonman AKA The Camry

OK,  Camry MIGHT be a little bit of a stretch comparison.   Low cost and will run forever.  The Moonman M2 is a super fun Chines...
